Welcome to the Firefighter Type 2 Course April 6-7 2024

Hello! My name is Madelyn Guillaume. I live in Tuolumne County. I am taking this course so I can expand my wildfire knowledge and hopefully open up more opportunities to get involved in burns. I have taken a few classes on fire fuels management and was ableto be actively involved in prescribed burns. The "funnest" thing about me is probably my dog!   

Hi all. I'm Christopher Altman. I live in Oakland, CA. I am an arborist, the owner of Trees Company so I'm great with a chainsaw.  My boyfriend, my inspiration, is a volunteer firefighter in Bonny Doon, CA near Santa Cruz. He does prescribed burns and I really want to join his crew. I also want to take my fire suppression skills wherever they are needed. Can't just sit around twiddling my thumbs while the BF is out fighting fires.

I also have many clients in the East Bay hills who need help with fire preparedness.  I would like to be able to confidently help them prepare for the worst.
I'm really looking forward to this.

My name is Leonel Solorio and I live in Sonora, CA. I’m taking this course to expand my fire skill set and prescribed burn knowledge, and to open up more opportunities for burning and forest management. I have helped prepare piles and helped with burning a couple times. In my current job I help manage contractors who prepare forest sites for future burning. One ‘fun’ fact about myself is that I had to evacuate from the 2021 Dixie Fire when it approached Grass Valley & Quincy.

Hello! My name is Ellyse Varone, I am living in Sonora, California. I am interested in taking this course for opportunities to implement prescribed fires and learn more about wildfires. I have done a lot of post fire work mainly in restoration projects and would love to use this training to do work with active fire. A fun fact is that I just traveled to Europe for the first time!

My name is Liam Geary, and I live in Berkeley, California. I am taking this course to broaden my horizons as a student of forestry. I have worked on a fuel reduction crew before, and worked in the warehouse at various fire camps in the Dixie, Mccash and Caldor Fires in 2021. A fun fact about myself is that the bike I ride is 11 years older than I am
