Hi, I'm Daniel. I'm a former volunteer FFT2 red card holder and structural water tender operator in our local combination department (Vashon Island Fire & Rescue).

I live on five forested acres on Puget Sound. I've joined HFA to learn more about managing my own forest as well as developing RX burn skills to help others. I'd like to keep my tactical tender pump and water supply skills sharp and put them to use assisting PBAs.

I first earned my FFT2 in 2010 but let it lapse. I've (again) finished the NWCG FF2 online courses, just need a pack test and field day. I will probably get this done at a west coast TREX. While I drove and operated Type 2 tactical tenders on many structural and a few brush fires, I never earned WTOP because my department didn't open a task book for it (this department no longer has a wildland team, following the retirement of the Asst. Chief who was the CRWB).

Besides my volunteer fire work, I'm a professional telecommunications security engineer and have completed ICS-400. I can operate on an IMT as an ITSS or COMT trainee. I have read that some of the RX burns are managed as Type 3 incidents with an ad hoc IMT.

California is way ahead of Washington state in terms of building NGO RX burn capacity, so I look forward to learning a lot from this community.
